UFC On FX Bisping vs Belfort
The most successful British MMA fighter of all time Michael “The Count” Bisping looks to become only the second ever Brit to fight for a UFC title. Standing in his way is the man they call “The Phenom”, Vitor Belfort.
UFC On FX 7 takes place in Sao Paulo, Brazil headlined by a number one contender fight (only if Bisping wins) at Middleweight. Vitor Belfort’s knockout power will take on Bisping’s high paced cardio orientated game, with most people agreeing that the fight will be over early with a Belfort stoppage, or if it gets to the later rounds Bisping will pile on the pressure to get a late stoppage or take a decision.
The co main event pits TUF Brazil fighter Daniel Sarafian who would have been a finalist had it not been for an injury, he will finally look to make his officlal UFC debut against TUF Season 7 finalist CB Dollaway.
Dollaway has been having a rough time recently he was KO’d by Mark Munoz, then TKO’d by Jared Hamman, before defeating by descion Jason Miller in what could be best described as a lackluster fight. In front of the home town fans Sarafian will want to avoid Dollaway’s NCAA level wrestling, but he will not be afraid of being on his back as he has taken 6 of his 7 wins by submission. You have to go back to 2010 for the last time Dollaway looked good and won. He has a big advantage in experience with almost double the amuont of fights the Brazilain has had, and 10 of them coming in the UFC.
The only Heavweight fight on the card will feature the former title challenger Gabriel Gonzaga take on the rejuvenated Ben Rothewell. “Big” Ben looked horrendus against Mark Hunt at UFC 135, but at UFC 145 Rothwell who looked in the shape of his life removed Brendan Schaub from conciousness in 70 seconds, the 2 big men have looked like world beaters at points in their careers and a convincing win here could easily see one of them return to the top 10 at heavyweight.
