Strikeforce closed its doors for the final time.
The valuable fighters will be taken into the UFC fold, the losers and problematic fighters will likely have to look for employment elsewhere.
Here are the highlights of the main card:
Nate Marquardt got his leg messed up by the new (and last ever) Strikeforce Welterweight Champ Tarec Saffidine who was the only man on the main card to upset the odds. Stuffing Marquardt’s takedowns and chopping his leg away Saffidine used his leg kicks to run away with the fight, training at Team Quest with Dan Henderson, Matt Lindland and other stellar training partners has obviously has paid dividends as he controlled the much bigger man in the clinch.
The only other fight that was not a huge mismatch by the odds makers reckoning turned out to be a pretty one sided affair, as Jacare Souza applied a nasty kimura to tap Ed Herman just over three minutes into the fight, unfortuneately for Herman his new Revgear Samurai series shorts could not help stop the exceptional grappling Jacare posses, the Brazilian put the UFC Middleweight roster on notice showing yet again that his grappling is good enough to submit anyone.
