As seen on The Underground Ronda Rousey got some training in for UFC 157. Sparring with UFC on Fuel 9 headliner Gegard Mousasi in preparation for her historic Womens UFC Bantamweight Title Fight against Liz Carmouche. Although Mousasi fights 70lbs heavier than Rousey, it is clear in the video that the Olympic Judo Bronze medalist has some serious skills and drive. Going back for more and more despite being at a huge size disadvantage, Rousey showed similar desire in her fight with Liz Carmouche, when Liz took her back and started squeezing with a painful looking face crank. However Ronda would not be denied her 7th straight 1st round armbar win as a pro.
Dana White is already confident that the fight is the most successful women’s fight ever, in terms of live gate, PPV numbers and media exposure. Not only that but it has done very well for a UFC event, with tickets outselling Cain Velasquez vs Junior Dos Santos which took place at the same arena. Dana and most media members agree, a superstar has been born and it can only be a good thing for the advancement of womens MMA.
